Morality cannot exist without purpose in life because the acquisition of meaning creates empathy, which morality cannot exist without. Life without meaning naturally leads to nihilism because those who feel their life has no meaning think others must feel the same. Existentialism states that meaning is not inherent to life, but does not claim that meaning cannot be created, only that created meaning is not inherent to all.
